Umar ibn al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Destruction is in gold and silver coins.” Umar said, “O Messenger of Allah, you said destruction is in gold and silver coins, so what do you instruct us or what should we work for?” The Prophet said, “A tongue of remembrance, a grateful heart, and a spouse to help you with your Hereafter.”

Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah Almighty said: O Jesus, I will raise a nation after you who will praise Me and be grateful to Me when I bestow what they love, and they will expect reward and be patient when I afflict them with what they hate, although they had no forbearance or knowledge. Jesus said: O Lord, how can this be if they had no forbearance or knowledge? Allah said: I will give them from My forbearance and My knowledge.”

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “By the One in whose hand is my soul, among the blessing you will be questioned about on the Day of Resurrection are the cool shade, fresh dates, and cold water.”

Umar ibn al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said three times, “Destruction is in the desire for gold and silver.” Umar said, “O Messenger of Allah, what kind of wealth should we seek?” The Prophet said, “A tongue of remembrance, a grateful heart, and a believing wife.”
